Let Me Tell You about My Grandchildren
When I was twenty I had my first son. I didn’t think anything or anyone could hold my heart like holding him and rocking him; feeding him and watching him grow. I would show him off to anyone who would listen. I took pictures of him and put them in photo albums. In the seventies there wasn’t any such thing as digital, I was a proud mama. When he spoke his first word, ma-ma, I thought I would go to the moon with excitement. He’d laugh and talk. I had no idea what he was saying, but that didn’t matter…this little person had come into my life and my heart was full of joy and new adventure. You know that feeling you get when you’re on a rollercoaster and it is slowly climbing up the track…you get to the very top, and it just, tips, over, the top, and SWOOSH….you’re traveling at rocket speed, down and around, and over, and under…and your stomach does a gazillion flip-flops but you love it (I know some of you are not a fan but when I was young I loved it.) You’re so scared, but it’s an exhilarating scared…that’s how I felt watching each new discovery my son made…Being a new mom, I wasn’t sure what to do, or how to tend to him, but each day would come and go and I’d learn new ways of being a mother. And so it was with each of my four sons.
And until I met my grandchildren, I thought nothing could top being a mom…until I was a grand-mom!!! What a wonderful name to call it, “GRAND-MOM!” It is more thrilling than a rollercoaster, more thrilling than one of those scary Haunted Houses they have now days…I wouldn’t really know about that because I would never, ever, go into one, like the rollercoaster for some, I am not a fan lol… they are just…too scary…but I can imagine how thrilling it could be. It’s kind of like raising kids…pretty scary…but the love and joy you get to give and receive from them… well, there is no way to describe it…if you’re a grandparent you know exactly what I’m talking about.
I never thought anything could top being a mom, or a grand-ma, until I began to ask for more of the Holy Spirit…When I was a little girl about six, I gave my heart to Jesus. I knew what I experienced was real even though I didn’t understand the Bible, or what grown-ups said about it. Most of the time they made things very complicated. Even now sometimes I don’t understand what “they” are talking about. No one understands everything about everything…Except the Holy Spirit. Now don’t shut me out. Listen for just a few more paragraphs. LOL! Remember that grand baby feeling I was talking about…?
The Holy Spirit is sort of like that only so much more. He. Yes, I said, He, is a person. Just like God the Father and Jesus the Son. The Holy Spirit has His own personality, character and he has a soul, same as God and Jesus. Read Matthew 12:18, Matthew 26:38, and Hebrews 10:38. These Scriptures talk about each one having a soul.
Anyway what I wanted to say to you today is that there is absolutely nothing more thrilling than when you actually hear the Holy Spirit speak to you for the first time. He’s been talking to you all your life, but you didn’t hear or recognize Him…And once you begin hearing and He confirms it to you. You don’t want it to ever end. Hearing Him speak is the most powerful thing you will ever experience in your life. No He doesn’t scream or yell to get your attention. He doesn’t practice wrong behavior. He is gentle and kind and He guides He doesn’t push…actually for me and I’ve heard other people say this too…His voice is like a whisper or a breath inside of you. It’s different than your thoughts, but like your thoughts, only good and pure and healthy thoughts. He brings comfort and peace like a gentle breeze on a summer’s day. I’ve never lived where it snows but I’d imagine if you were all snowed in and couldn’t get outside but your fireplace is lit and you’re all warm and cozy with a blanket and a nice cup of hot tea and all is quiet and serene He’s kind of like that…
He’s kind of like that feeling you get when you catch your first fish, or, kiss your first love…or watch your child open his first Christmas present on Christmas morning, the look on his face of surprise and happiness…and he squeals with delight, “It’s just what I wanted.”
The Holy Spirit is the best friend you’ll ever have. He’ll tell you secrets and stories about Jesus that will leave you speechless and in awe…He’ll shed tears with you when a loved one passes…He’ll lead you in a path that is always lit with just enough light so you won’t stumble or fall. If you will open your heart to Him and speak to Him and ask Him what He wants you to do, He will answer you. He speaks to our hearts and minds through His word and He calls us by name. If you want to confirm what He is telling you, open His letters that are written in His Book and you will find everything you need to live a good, full, rich and joyous life. Even in the difficult times He will never leave, He is always with us. We just need to be aware of Him, talk to Him; He is your best friend.
God bless you and remember this, you’ll know His Voice because it will always point you to Love…God’s Love! I Corinthians 13 will tell you how to Love the way He loves.
God loves All His children and you know what? God is as thrilled at watching us when we are learning new things about Him, as we are about watching our children. I can imagine God on that rollercoaster…arms held high over his head…laughing with excitement and thrilled as it goes…SWOOSH, over and under, around and around, riding on that rollercoaster with His very own children…knowing what He has in store for us…just over the next bend…and curve…How Exciting to know the Holy Spirit is riding on that rollercoaster with us and in us!

1 Corinthians 13 Good News Translation (GNT)
Love
I may be able to speak the languages of human beings and even of angels, but if I have no love, my speech is no more than a noisy gong or a clanging bell. I may have the gift of inspired preaching; I may have all knowledge and understand all secrets; I may have all the faith needed to move mountains—but if I have no love, I am nothing. I may give away everything I have, and even give up my body to be burned—but if I have no love, this does me no good.
Love is patient and kind; it is not jealous or conceited or proud; love is not ill-mannered or selfish or irritable; love does not keep a record of wrongs; love is not happy with evil, but is happy with the truth. Love never gives up; and its faith, hope, and patience never fail.
Love is eternal. There are inspired messages, but they are temporary; there are gifts of speaking in strange tongues, but they will cease; there is knowledge, but it will pass. For our gifts of knowledge and of inspired messages are only partial; but when what is perfect comes, then what is partial will disappear.
When I was a child, my speech, feelings, and thinking were all those of a child; now that I am an adult, I have no more use for childish ways. What we see now is like a dim image in a mirror; then we shall see face-to-face. What I know now is only partial; then it will be complete—as complete as God’s knowledge of me.
Meanwhile these three remain: faith, hope, and love; and the greatest of these is love.
If You Live Long Enough
If you live long enough you learn to talk, walk, and run!
If you live long enough you go to school and graduate and some even go to college
If you live long enough you fall in love get married
you have kids, and grandkids!
If you live long enough you see a man walk on the moon
You vote and see your leaders fight and devour each other for a position they will regret later!
If you live long enough you experience loss of loved ones, jobs, homes and mates!
If you live long enough you discover that technology only dreamed about becomes reality and you wonder was it worth it after all?
If you live long enough you see your classmates grow older and think WOW do I look like that?
And looking in your own mirror sigh and wonder who is that stranger looking back at you!
If you live long enough you see a past of hurt and regret…but realize it is all forgiven and you do have the strength to go on!
If you live long enough your heart is filled with a strange bewilderment and love you never knew could exist when you look into the eyes of a grandchild and know a little-bit of you lives on long after you are gone.
If you live long enough you will one day experience death…that is yet to be seen!
There is more…so much more…If you live long enough.

I’m Right Here, Do not be Afraid
How very fitting on this day that this is one of my memories from Face Book…Last night I had a dream I was in a very dark, completely dark room no light at all…I was crying out, “Mom, help me! Help me Mom! Mom, where are you?” In the dark I heard my mother’s voice say, “Marla, I am right here with you, don’t be afraid.” Even though it was still dark, just hearing her voice caused the fear to subside and I was safe, no longer afraid.
When I went to bed last night I was reading a book that Barbara VanderWiele Davies mentioned in our small group last night. It is called, “The God I Never Knew,” by Robert Morris…I went home and ordered it on my kindle…it is a wonderful book…He is talking about the Holy Spirit, how He is our helper…and so, what I understood was that when I called out for help…since my mother is now in heaven and no where I can talk to her in the physical…that it was actually the Holy Spirit saying to me, “Marla, I am here with you, don’t be afraid.” How awesome is that? We have a comforter, a helper who is always with us even in the dark! <3 The other thing is, is that I since my mama’s presence with me all the time too…she can’t help me, but the Holy Spirit can, and does…He is an amazing Holy Breath of God who leads us gently and reveals Jesus to us continuously if we will only listen to His voice and not be afraid!

John 10:27-28 King James Version (KJV) My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
Matthew 14: 27 (KJ21) But straightway Jesus spoke unto them, saying, “Be of good cheer. It is I; be not afraid.”
Heaven’s 9-1-1 Operator
Heaven’s 9-1-1 Operator: “Hello, you’ve reached 9-1-1 what is your emergency?”
Prayer: “My name is Prayer and I’d like to say, Good morning to the Chief.
I’d like to tell Him what an awesome job He is doing and thank Him for always answering and sending help when I call.
I want to tell Him that without Him I would be in trouble and that I would have no hope. I want to tell Him that because He sent His son to rescue me, and help me out of a pit of despair and disaster, that I want to do the same for others.
I’m ready to lay down my life to help rescue others. I’m available 24-7 all anyone has to do is call on Prayer. I will take their requests directly to the Chief.
I, Prayer, am not complicated. You don’t need a dictionary to figure me out. I can be as short as one word, “Help” or I can be as long as “Our Father Who Art in Heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name…” In fact the simpler you ask, the better. I can be used in any situation and any place. I’m not prideful or deceitful…I don’t come in my name. I’m not prejudice or racial. I am here for anyone, anytime. All you have to do is speak or even whisper, sometimes just a thought from the heart and I’m ready to take you to the Chief of Heaven. When your heart is humble and honest the Chief will hear and will answer. Sometimes instantly and sometimes it’s years before you get a response but that’s because He knows best.
Heaven’s 9-1-1 Operator. My emergency is this. Many do not use Prayer anymore. Many have never even heard of Prayer. Many are afraid or feel awkward in Prayer. So I’d like you to tell them it’s OK to use Prayer. Prayer is not complicated; they don’t need to feel uncomfortable about Prayer. I am their friend.
Prayer is here to take them to the Chief of Heaven and present their request so that they can have peace and an intimate relationship with the Chief. In fact He created Prayer for that purpose.
Now, thank you for hearing Prayer’s request.”
Heaven’s 9-1-1 Operator: “Prayer, the Chief has heard your emergency call and He is answering immediately. He wants everyone to use Prayer!”

Angel Wings

Quietly, reverently, solemnly and prayerfully,
I wait.
Standing upright, in the presence of the Creator of all living things…
Slowly my arms stretched from side to side, I begin to move them in a slow fanning motion…as if they are unseen wings coming together in front of me, then opening again…back and forth…back and forth.
I perceive wings, opening and closing, back and forth in a slow steady motion. A light breeze stirs as feather’s whisp in the invisible realm sending thrusts of air around me and I know there are angels engulfing me…pure and peaceful full of grace and love.
I’m in the presence of the Heavenly Hosts…
Then stillness…the wings stop and retract…and a voice as light as a dove whispers…
“My precious child, welcome! I know you. The angels speak of you often and I listen as they tell me of your faithful, fervent prayers. They inhabit your praise. You are known here. I know you by name. You are mine. You are my treasure. You are beloved.”
Have you ever felt angel wings around you? I have. I know that may sound boastful. But let me tell you it is most humbling. And to hear the voice of the All Mighty God, tell you, He knows you by name and that you are spoken of to Him by His angels. Oh there is nothing more life stirring than that. I don’t deserve any of it…but I am most grateful and awe-struck by His message. Anyone and everyone…whosoever, desires to know Him; can have the very same experience. All you have to do is spend time with Him. Love on Him and let Him love on you.

Psalm 91:1-4 King James Version (KJV)
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
I’ve been with You All Along

Standing all alone on a cold, dark, night…
Alone in the dark, shadows and light
Companions these…no thoughts, no needs…
Something or someone pulls at my heart…
A perception I sense, here, alone, in the dark…
No, you can’t see me you can’t touch me…but I’m here just the same…
In the old hymns you’re remembering in all those old songs…
You’re not alone I’ve been with you all along…
In the stillness of the night when you wonder if everything will be alright
Sitting at your breakfast table mulling over things out of sight…
That gentle nudge is me, telling you, don’t be afraid, you’re not alone; I’ve been with you all along…
I’m here, son, daughter, living right inside of you, you’re never alone.
In the quiet of the early morning you will hear me whisper…start your day with a song of praise let me tell you how to pray…
Open your heart; open your mind and listen, listen, listen…
Hear what I have to say…
“I’m telling you these things while I’m still living with you. The Friend, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send at my request, will make everything plain to you. He will remind you of all the things I have told you. I’m leaving you well and whole.
That’s my parting gift to you. Peace. I don’t leave you the way you’re used to being left—feeling abandoned, bereft. So don’t be upset. Don’t be distraught. “You’ve heard me tell you, ‘I’m going away, and I’m coming back.’ If you loved me, you would be glad that I’m on my way to the Father because the Father is the goal and purpose of my life.
“I’ve told you this ahead of time, before it happens, so that when it does happen, the confirmation will deepen your belief in me. I’ll not be talking with you much more like this because the chief of this godless world is about to attack. But don’t worry—he has nothing on me, no claim on me. But so the world might know how thoroughly I love the Father, I am carrying out my Father’s instructions right down to the last detail.
“Get up. Let’s go. It’s time to leave here.” John 14:26-31 The Message (MSG)Bible

It is Jesus…

Humility and Grace stand at your hearts door…
Open up and let them come in…
A hardened heart can never win…
Pride says, “Look at me, look what I’ve accomplished…”
Humility, humbly bows her head and says, “Are you sure of that my friend?”
Grace stands nearby and whispers, “We shall see.” and then she cries.
I have saved many souls for Jesus; I’ve preached sermons others wished they’d done…
I’m the one God used. Don’t you hear the crowds tell how I’ve won…?
Humility only smiles and knows this one will soon see…
“It was Jesus who lived and died to set captives free…
It was He who was crucified, died and rose again for thee…
Holy Spirit draws them to Jesus, and Grace is poured upon each heart, it’s faith that pleases God, you’ll see…
For those who exalt themselves above the Lord, will be brought down and either they will accept humility…
Or be brought to scorn…”
Turn around, open your eyes and look full in the face of the Savior…Jesus is longing for you to be all that he’s called you to be…but first you must accept Grace and Humility.
Follow Jesus, not a man, he’s the only way, truth and life where you will be totally, completely free!
It is Jesus…It is Jesus…He is the one who died for thee!

1 John 2:16 King James Version (KJV) For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
James 4:10King James Version (KJV) Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
John 12:32-43King James Version (KJV) And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.
Once Born, You Can Never Be Unborn
Something occurred to me today…I’ve been going to a Bible Study at our Church. We are doing the study with Priscilla Shirer on ‘Discerning the Voice of God.’ We are on our second week and it is talking about the Holy Spirit. It is a wonderful study I’m enjoying it tremendously.
Today as I was reading my lesson I had this thought…
We don’t have to pop in and pop out of God’s presence.
Jesus said He was going away so he could send another comforter to us and that he would live inside us. Now I’ve been a Christian for a very long time…in the last five years I’ve lived a life I believe is pleasing to the Lord.
At about six years of age, I accepted Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior and the journey began. At that point the Holy Spirit came to live inside of me. It was Him that revealed Jesus to me. It was Him that taught me to honor my mother and my father. It was Him that drew me away from sin, things that would keep me from becoming closer to the Lord. He’s been my teacher, my comforter and my friend. At twelve years of age I asked the Holy Spirit for my prayer language and without going into the entire experience let me just say he filled me with an amazing gift. He told me to seek the giver of the gift and not the gift…Jesus is the giver of the gift. Made sense to me and boy was He right!! Three and a half hours later and He was still speaking through me and all through the night. But that’s another story…for another time…
At times I didn’t walk as close to the Lord as I should have, we all fall down, but that is part of the growing process. I’m just thankful for God’s mercy and grace. He never gives up on us. Amen? And He never left me!
I don’t know about you but for me I go to the Lord and think that I have to do certain things that will get me into the Lord’s presence…By all means we should be clean, and humble and worship with a pure heart…that’s how we should live but sometimes we get dirty and have to take a bath in the living waters of his word…of course…
So here’s my thought…The Holy Spirit lives, dwells, stays in our heart at all times…we are never disconnected from Him…it’s like our brain, heart, lungs or kidney’s etc., they are a part of us and if we remove them we will die…we can’t live without them. They are pretty important to our survival…right? Right.
The Holy Spirit is part of our spirit’s survival…without Him we would not be born of God’s kingdom. We would be spiritually dead.
So because He is living inside of us…we don’t have to go someplace to talk to God…I’m not talking about staying out of Church that’s not where I’m going with this…I’m talking about how God’s Spirit lives inside of us. No matter where we go…or what we do…if we are awake or sleeping He is always in us…we have access to Him at any time 24/7. All we have to do is talk to Him…and He will help us grow and know Jesus more and more and more…Isn’t that wonderful…amazing…it blows my mind…
I just took it for granted that He was living in my heart; that’s what we all say when we lead someone to the Lord. “Ask Jesus to come into your heart and be the Lord of your life.” But today it hit me like never before, that, He is, living inside of me…the Spirit of the Living God took up residence in my heart the minute I accepted Jesus by faith as my Lord and Savior…Oh I hope you are seeing what I’m seeing…because this brings me such Joy and confidence and a realization that the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead is living right inside of me…
Oh I knew it…I’ve heard it…I believe it…but I didn’t understand it until He showed me when I listened to Priscilla talk about the Holy Spirit yesterday…
This gives us freedom from religious teaching…and religious, mindset, of how we are to get into the presence of God…
We do what everyone else does…fold our hands and bow our head…we get in our Holy stance…and say all the right Holy words…we even cry, real tears, and hope God hears us…
We are free from all that…I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with all of that…but we don’t have to work God up…God is ever present…He always hears and watches…He wants us to talk to Him…to come to Him and love Him…
We are the ones that put all the trimmings on how we think we are supposed to be with Him…He made it so simple…
We are never out His presence…because He is always in us…
Even though our minds don’t recognize that he’s with us all the time…He is…
We can’t unplug from Him and I would never want to…
Think about this…He is not waiting on the outside world for us to find Him…
God sent Jesus to the world and Jesus died and rose again and He sent the Holy Spirit of promise to come and live right inside of us…always….He is always here, inside…all we have to do is acknowledge Him…
He knows where He is…and He is tugging on our heart-strings saying, Hey, I’m right here…just ask me anything and I will tell you the truth and show you who Jesus is…I will help you anytime…anywhere…breathe in, exhale, that’s how close I am…

Romans 8:11 New Living Translation (NLT)
The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.
John 14:16-17 The Message (MSG) “If you love me, show it by doing what I’ve told you. I will talk to the Father, and he’ll provide you another Friend so that you will always have someone with you. This Friend is the Spirit of Truth. The godless world can’t take him in because it doesn’t have eyes to see him, doesn’t know what to look for. But you know him already because he has been staying with you, and will even be in you!
John 14:16-17 New King James Version (NKJV) And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.
John 3:1-17 Good News Translation (GNT) There was a Jewish leader named Nicodemus, who belonged to the party of the Pharisees. One night he went to Jesus and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher sent by God. No one could perform the miracles you are doing unless God were with him.”
Jesus answered, “I am telling you the truth: no one can see the Kingdom of God without being born again.”
“How can a grown man be born again?” Nicodemus asked. “He certainly cannot enter his mother’s womb and be born a second time!”
“I am telling you the truth,” replied Jesus, “that no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit. A person is born physically of human parents, but is born spiritually of the Spirit. Do not be surprised because I tell you that you must all be born again. The wind blows wherever it wishes; you hear the sound it makes, but you do not know where it comes from or where it is going. It is like that with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
Give Me Those

Lord take me to the lost the dying the lame
The ones kicked in the teeth, the hungry, without a name
Those who are struggling, hurting those searching
The unlearned ones, forgotten without a face…
Those scraping the barrel seeking your amazing grace
To seek and save the ones who are lost
No matter how tough, No matter the cost
The trials of life have battered and torn
Give me those to love, those broken ones, who mourn
Save us Oh God, Souls cry out
The enemy rages, they defame and destroy
Death to the infidels, their screams are heard
Then a mighty hand, reaches down with one swipe
Victory!
Victory!
There will be No defeat
Give me those, Oh God those who weep
The outcast, the weary, put them back on their feet
Victory, yes Victory will taste, oh so sweet
When at last it’s you Jesus, we finally meet
So give me strength to witness, your Spirit to guide me,
Your love to sustain me, Faith for the journey, Joy for the pain,
Your word will remain
Give me those, Oh God you have called and equipped,
Broken by life, humbled and stripped, ready for battle, God’s call to obey
Unmerited favor, blood bought, souls free, this is our purpose our legacy
Prayer warrior’s unstoppable, with nothing to lose
Hearts strong, hearts true
Give me those Oh God, those are the ones I want for you!
