The Tom-Boy

Climb up on my lap, Jonny,
I’ve got a story to tell you.
Hop-scotch and leapfrog, Mother-May-I.
Tator, the dog and a cat named Sly.
Skipping through mud puddles
Spit’ in contest, swat’ in flies
She’s a tomboy through and through
We call her, Lou…
Running barefoot through the woods
Hunt’ in toads and polliwogs…
Catching fly balls and arm wrestling the boys
Lou wasn’t interested in pretty girl toys.
Overalls and ball caps
Only sissy’s took naps
No time for fancy folk
And when Lou spoke
Ain’t was her favorite word.
Ain’t got time.
Ain’t no good with make-up and such.
Ain’t looking for tea parties or a gentle touch.
Lou understood, it wasn’t her nature to smile and look good.
She was all girl, but in this ole world
You gotta live while you can
Because friend, these days will end…
Betsy, Susie, and Mary-Mae with
Buttons and bows and frilly clothes, no siree
She wasn’t one of those.
Lou would rather not spend time at their house to play…
She was a tom-boy and she knew that one day…
She’d sail the oceans blue, tame lions and navigate planes.
Yes, Lou was a tomboy through and through.
Louise at birth, but by the age of three,
Climbed forest trees and skinned her knees.
Played marbles in the dirt, she was just a little squirt.
Back then it was a whole different world…
No matter to them that she was just a girl
In overalls and T-shirt, barefoot that’s who…
Was simply known, as Lou.
Dragon flies and starlit skies, daydreams and outdoor games
This tomboy became Your Mom!

I chose the name, Louise, randomly. When I looked it up this is what I found.
The name Louise is of French origin and means “famous warrior” or “renowned in battle. It is the feminine form of the name Louis and has historical significance, associated with royalty and nobility. The name has been popular in various countries and remains a classic choice for parents seeking a name with strength and dignity.

I love the Lord Jesus Christ and am passionate about writing. I hope you enjoy the blog and come to visit often. Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry. “Behold the proud, His soul is not upright in him; But the just shall live by his faith. Habakkuk 2: 2-4
