The Father Asks, Where Are You?

Artist Shawna Erback
I search far and wide waiting for you to come
I catch a glimpse, a quick look but it’s only from
A distance and you’re gone…
Day after day, I go to our secret place
Hoping to see your precious face…
But I wait in vain…
Have you even forgotten my name?
Where are you? I long for your embrace
To share your life, your accomplishments, some trace
Of times long gone, I wait, but you aren’t there…
Tragedy comes into your life and now you cry for me…
And hurriedly I come at your beckoning…
You offer your regrets for not coming sooner,
You’re sorry for neglecting our relationship
Waiting in the place where we met…
And yet…I accept your lament…
Just to be with you, I’m content…
Repentant heart and loving child…we’ve walked many miles
Through heartache and disappointments…brokenness and unforgiveness
I see you now, as you wait for me…where once it was I, who waited for thee…
Oh, Papa my soul is free, as I sit here upon this battered tree
Waiting expectantly, just to be with thee…
No longer running to and fro, chasing dreams where there’s only woe…
Enemy forces, my darkest foe…
Jesus, I’ll follow you wherever you go.
For I have learned that in the secret place, I can speak with you face to face…
Still and calm in this sacred sanctuary I have found rest for my soul…
And so, I wait for thee!

I love the Lord Jesus Christ and am passionate about writing. I hope you enjoy the blog and come to visit often. Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry. “Behold the proud, His soul is not upright in him; But the just shall live by his faith. Habakkuk 2: 2-4

  1. Dear Marla, yesterday I was watching a pastor online and he encouraged us to enter into worship. I heard an old song “To be in your presence” by Noel Richards. One phrase is “to rest in your presence, not rushing away”. I felt that the Lord was saying that many of His people do rush away without giving Him time. No time to listen to what He is saying, to be with Him, to worship Him and give Him glory. I do not exclude myself from this and I felt very sad. However, later on I also felt that the Lord through the pastor was giving us a warning and although that was about definite sin I also heard myself that we had to stop playing around and taking His grace for granted. Lord, may we worship you wholeheartedly and be very hungry for Your presence. That we will have mutual delight in spending time together and we will hear what you whisper to us.

    1. Yes amen…you are right on target! God loves us so very much…and when we fall totally love with him and want him more than anything this world has to offer…we will want to spend as much time with him as possible!! After all, that’s what we will do when we get to heaven…we’ll live in His presence…and if we spend time with him here and now…we’ll know him that much better for eternity!!! Thank you for commenting I appreciate your input! Good stuff!! God bless you on your journey…<3
