Sunbeams fall upon my face
In early morning light…
Day breaks forth with new life
I yawn, awakened by bird song…
No yesterday, no tomorrow, only today…
New beginning…new breath…
No mistakes, no regrets…
Fresh new start, a grateful heart
Papa, what is this I feel?
Son, it is called being alive…
Papa, what are these sounds of joy I hear?
Son, that is called music…
Papa, what are these growls coming from my belly?
Son, that is called hunger…
Take these grapes and eat, and you will be filled
New strength for your journey…
Oh, Papa, there’s a burst of sweetness I’ve never known
Adam, there are so many today’s I want to show you.
Come, lets walk, one day at a time
A new beginning each day!
There are rivers and trees and flowers and dreams
To enjoy, one day at a time.
Animals to name and sea creatures too
A treasured companion I’ll create for you.
One day at a time!
