He was not the kind of book you left upon the shelf\u2026<\/h6>\n
He had lived seventy years before I met him myself.<\/h6>\n
Playing the fiddle, spoons, and glasses of water,<\/h6>\n
His music filled the room, and stories and laughter until soon<\/h6>\n
Dancing broke out bringing joy to full bloom.<\/h6>\n
My Great Uncle Book was a tall, lanky man.<\/h6>\n
He didn\u2019t have any teeth; so, he\u2019d crack nuts with a hammer in order to eat.<\/h6>\n
He drank his coffee in a bowl poured over one of my granny\u2019s delicious homemade biscuits\u2026<\/h6>\n
Bless his soul\u2026<\/h6>\n
A master storyteller and riddle-maker, why he\u2019d lived a lifetime<\/h6>\n
before I knew him\u2026he was my best friend\u2026<\/h6>\n
Sitting on the old, porch-stoop, he\u2019d whittle and spit chewing tobacco<\/h6>\n
hitting a fly as it flew by\u2026<\/h6>\n
Cut out newspaper articles and glued em in a big scrapbook.<\/h6>\n
Every now and then I\u2019d take a look\u2026Oh the thrill of him was all it took<\/h6>\n
For me to sit for hours and listen to my Uncle Book!<\/h6>\n
Groomed by granny, she cut his hair and gave him a shave<\/h6>\n
He wasn\u2019t afeared he was always brave\u2026<\/h6>\n
And then when he was seventy-nine, he was called to heaven and left us all behind.<\/h6>\n
I\u2019ll never forget this man called Book, named after The Great, Old Holy Book.<\/h6>\n
It\u2019s been sixty-three years, I\u2019m now seventy-two.<\/h6>\n
Uncle Book was a kind man and that\u2019s who,<\/h6>\n
I think of often when I write.<\/h6>\n
