I listened to a sermonette today; it wasn\u2019t long or drawn out. But this lady was talking about how she wanted Jesus more than anything else in this world.<\/h6>\n
Then, I began to think about the two thieves on the cross. They both hung next to Jesus, one on his left and one on his right. One of them railed on Jesus saying, \u201cIf you are the Christ, save us and yourself.\u201d But the other one realized there was something different about Jesus. They both heard him as he cried out to God. He didn\u2019t curse or condemn anyone. Even though he had every reason to plead and demand his innocence. He was tortured more than the two thieves. They saw the thorns that tore into his scalp. The blood that poured form his hands and feet. The mocking\u2019s and cruelty as the crowd cursed and condemned him. And then this one thief began to see that he was not like other men.<\/h6>\n
Gasping for breath, it was difficult to say the least. Blood and sweat poured over his face and into his eyes. The beating alone should have killed him. Dehydration and the pain in his body hanging there for hours was taking its toll. When he finally cried for water, He was given vinegar to drink. But more than his bodily discomfort he prayed for the very ones who had done this to him. \u201cForgive them Father, they don\u2019t know what they are doing.\u201d<\/h6>\n
The thieves had heard him pray. Heard him as he suffered and not one time asked to be taken from his tormentors. \u201cHe shouldn\u2019t be hanging here with us. We deserve our punishment, but he has done nothing wrong. Lord, remember me when you come into your kingdom.\u201d<\/h6>\n
\u201cI tell you this,\u201d Jesus said. \u201cThis day you will be with me in paradise.\u201d<\/h6>\n
Do we mock Jesus? Are we concerned only with our demands? Our lives? Our wants and desires? Or do we hear and see and recognize what one thief saw and tied to defend him? Are we so caught up in this world, that the hurts and needs of our fellow humankind are oblivious to us? Do you know Jesus? Are you hanging on a cross and hopeless? Is being a thief, and hanging onto lies more important than hearing the truth and turning to Jesus? \u201cLord, remember me when you come into your kingdom!\u201d<\/h6>\n
Listen, there\u2019s a storm coming. A storm like none we\u2019ve seen in our lifetime. Be afraid, be very afraid. If you don\u2019t have Jesus living in your heart, you will perish. The thief of your soul wants you to believe that Jesus is just a myth. Which thief would you rather believe? The one who mocked Jesus, or the one who said, \u201cLord, remember me when you come into your kingdom!\u201d He gives us all a choice.<\/h6>\n
THERE IS ONLY, ONE WAY! ONE TRUTH! ONE LIFE!<\/h6>\n
JESUS LOVES YOU!<\/h6>\n
