You could hear him before you saw him. No bigger than a minute.<\/h6>\n
He shouted, he shook, with all his might. Known as Lil\u2019 Jake Bennett.<\/h6>\n
Standing on a street corner, wearing faded, denim overalls, toes poking through worn-out shoes, Lil\u2019 Jake preached the word of God.<\/h6>\n
\u201cRepent!\u201d He cried. Tattered Bible in his hand.<\/h6>\n
Jesus said, \u201cTake my yoke upon you, and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart and you shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.\u201d (Matthew 11:28-30)<\/em><\/h6>\n
Ole man passing by said, \u201cYoung man, why you out here doing this? Why ain\u2019t you home, playing with the other kids. This Jesus talk is for Sunday school. Don\u2019t you know the town\u2019s got rules. Go on home now and stop this yell\u2019n, people don\u2019t care what you\u2019re a\u2019tell\u2019n.<\/h6>\n
\u201cMister, do you know Jesus? Did you know he died on an old, rugged tree, just to save you, and me?\u201d<\/h6>\n
I can\u2019t stop mister, because you see, Jesus, took me out of a horrible pit. Mama and Papa died. My brother and sister too\u2026<\/h6>\n
All burned up in a fire\u2026I was only five, but I knew\u2026<\/h6>\n
Miss Mae came to my rescue. She said, \u201cJake, here\u2019s what we gonna do\u2026\u201d<\/h6>\n
You\u2019re coming home with me, but first, let\u2019s pray.<\/h6>\n
\u201cJesus, keep your hand on lil Jake. Raise him up to preach your word. Lord, use him in a mighty way. To save souls, Lord, help him obey. Don\u2019t let him ever give up preaching your word. This we ask today, in Jesus\u2019 name. Amen.\u201d<\/h6>\n
\u201cMiss Mae, tell me about Jesus.\u201d<\/h6>\n
\u201cJesus loves all the little children in the world. He loves you so much he died for you on an old rugged cross. But he didn\u2019t stay in that grave. He rose on the third day. He is the Son of God. Ask him to save you and live in your heart and make everything new. Then preach his word wherever you go. Tell everyone about his great love.\u201d<\/h6>\n
Sir, that was two years ago\u2026 \u201cI\u2019m just gett\u2019n started. I won\u2019t ever stop preaching about Jesus\u2019 great love.\u201d<\/h6>\n
Ole man shook his head\u2026 \u201cPreacher Jake, that\u2019s quite a story seems to me you give God all the glory. Keep doing what you\u2019re a do\u2019n son, and Oh by the way, will you pray. I believe ever-thing you say. It\u2019s the best message I\u2019ve ever heard. Tell me some more about God\u2019s word.\u201d<\/h6>\n
Lil Jake, is now, 80 years old. Four children, fifteen grandkids, ten great grandkids and one great gran. He still stands on the street corner, preaching God\u2019s word. \u201cJesus loves you! Will you love him too? Ask him into your heart. Make you new!\u201d<\/h6>\n
