Luke 2 The Birth of Jesus<\/strong><\/h6>\n
2\u00a0<\/strong>In those days Caesar Augustus\u00a0issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world.\u00a02\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>(This was the first census that took place while[<\/sup>a<\/sup><\/a>]<\/sup>\u00a0Quirinius was governor of Syria.)\u00a03\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>And everyone went to their own town to register.<\/h6>\n
4\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem\u00a0the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David.\u00a05\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him\u00a0and was expecting a child.\u00a06\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born,\u00a07\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.<\/h6>\n
8\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.\u00a09\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>An angel\u00a0of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.\u00a010\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>But the angel said to them, \u201cDo not be afraid.\u00a0I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.\u00a011\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>Today in the town of David a Savior\u00a0has been born to you; he is the Messiah,\u00a0the Lord.\u00a012\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>This will be a sign\u00a0to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.\u201d<\/h6>\n
13\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,<\/h6>\n
14\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u201cGlory to God in the highest heaven,
\nand on earth peace\u00a0to those on whom his favor rests.\u201d<\/h6>\n
15\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, \u201cLet\u2019s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.\u201d<\/h6>\n
16\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger.\u00a017\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child,\u00a018\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.\u00a019\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.\u00a020\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God\u00a0for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.<\/h6>\n
21\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>On the eighth day, when it was time to circumcise the child,\u00a0he was named Jesus, the name the angel had given him before he was conceived.<\/h6>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
