There\u2019s a light in the window<\/h6>\n
But no one is home<\/h6>\n
They went to the river<\/h6>\n
To romp and roam<\/h6>\n
Three little ones<\/h6>\n
Not wanting to go home\u2026<\/h6>\n
Let\u2019s stay a little longer mommy<\/h6>\n
I want to see the birds, and listen to the whistle of the wind in the trees<\/h6>\n
Take my hand mommy and skip along with me\u2026<\/h6>\n
We\u2019ll chase the butterflies<\/h6>\n
And jump like the frog<\/h6>\n
Sit here a while longer, mommy, on this old hollow log\u2026<\/h6>\n
<\/h6>\n
Twenty years come and go<\/h6>\n
There\u2019s a light in the window<\/h6>\n
But no one is home\u2026<\/h6>\n
Now I sit by the river all alone<\/h6>\n
Sit with me just a little longer<\/h6>\n
Sweet children of mine<\/h6>\n
Mommy is waiting; it\u2019s been a long time<\/h6>\n
Off in the distance<\/h6>\n
A car horn blows<\/h6>\n
Could it be they have come?<\/h6>\n
Oh say it\u2019s so\u2026<\/h6>\n
<\/h6>\n
Laughter and giggles joyfully fill the air<\/h6>\n
Little ones go and look over there<\/h6>\n
Grand mommy\u2019s waiting to play with you where<\/h6>\n
We once loved to wonder and share<\/h6>\n
Butterflies and river-rides<\/h6>\n
Leap frog and an old hollow log<\/h6>\n
<\/h6>\n
Come on mommy, let\u2019s stay awhile<\/h6>\n
<\/h6>\n
Sitting by the river side<\/h6>\n
My heart skips a beat\u2026<\/h6>\n
For my grandbabies have come and they\u2019re oh so sweet<\/h6>\n
No longer lonely<\/h6>\n
My life is complete\u2026<\/h6>\n
So when you\u2019re tired and dead on your feet\u2026<\/h6>\n
From chasing little ones and don\u2019t get much sleep<\/h6>\n
Remember they grow up and are out of sight\u2026<\/h6>\n
One morning they\u2019re gone but it\u2019ll be alright\u2026<\/h6>\n
Take each moment and hold them and when they repeat<\/h6>\n
Let\u2019s stay a little longer and take a seat<\/h6>\n
Playing leapfrog, then,<\/h6>\n
Sit on the old hollow log\u2026<\/h6>\n
And stay as long as they\u2026<\/h6>\n
Would like!<\/h6>\n
