Walking through the streets of Jerusalem<\/h6>\n
The city is packed with foreigners,<\/h6>\n
They\u2019ve traveled from far distant places<\/h6>\n
Tired, dusty and weary, I see it in their faces\u2026<\/h6>\n
I\u2019ve lived here since my birth;<\/h6>\n
Smells of burnt animals, of sacrifice, linger\u00a0in the air<\/h6>\n
The Priest, place upon the altar, just there\u2026<\/h6>\n
Bleating sheep with goat and dove<\/h6>\n
People push, complain and shove\u2026<\/h6>\n
Traditions don\u2019t come from above\u2026<\/h6>\n
But we keep them anyway\u2026<\/h6>\n
Standing in the city gate\u2026I watch these men as they contemplate<\/h6>\n
Who is this man, Jesus, of Nazareth, it is said, that<\/em>\u00a0he heals and teaches i<\/em>n the synagogue.<\/em><\/h6>\n
Blasphemy<\/em>, the Pharisees shout, he\u2019s Beelzebub. I\u2019ve heard\u00a0that he cast demons out<\/em>\u2026<\/h6>\n
Their sweat and dirt a stench in the wind\u2026<\/h6>\n
Stubborn, rebellious, religious men.<\/h6>\n
Messiah has come, they\u2019ll see in the end\u2026<\/h6>\n
I listen to them whisper in low tones,<\/h6>\n
While they stand and glare, at Jesus as he touches a blind man\u2019s eyes\u2026they stare<\/h6>\n
Mud and spit applied\u2026<\/h6>\n
Jesus heals the blind man\u2019s eyes\u2026<\/h6>\n
With just one touch of the Savior’s hand<\/h6>\n
I bow my head and\u00a0in reverence I stand,<\/h6>\n
In awe of this holy, man…<\/h6>\n
Jesus, Messiah has come!<\/h6>\n
Will you accept God’s only son…<\/h6>\n

Sometime later came one of the Jewish feast-days and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. There is in Jerusalem near the sheep-gate a pool surrounded by five arches, which has the Hebrew name of Bethzatha (the Pool of Bethesda). <\/em><\/h6>\n
Under these arches a great many sick people were in the habit of lying; some of them were blind, some lame, and some had withered limbs. (They used to wait there for the \u201cmoving of the water\u201d, for at certain times an angel used to come down into the pool and disturb the water, and then the first person who stepped into the water after the disturbance would be healed of whatever he was suffering from.) <\/em><\/h6>\n
