She must not touch him.<br \/>\n&#8216;Adonai my fair one, lover of my soul I adore thee.&#8217;<br \/>\nTears flow from her eyes; eyes\u00a0that have seen\u00a0such heartache, rejection and pain<br \/>\nBroken and alone\u2026she finds love she&#8217;s never known.\u00a0She kisses his feet.<br \/>\nShe gently touches\u00a0them with her hands, tender and with reverence \u2026 then she\u00a0wipes them with her hair\u2026not knowing that soon\u00a0they will\u00a0be pierced and nailed to a tree&#8230;.<br \/>\nThe others watch in disgust at the spectacle she makes of herself\u2026<br \/>\nJesus looks at the woman he does not reprimand her but allows her\u00a0to honor him\u2026<br \/>\nHe looks at his host.<\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\">\u00a0\u201cWho of you offered to wash my feet or kiss me, when I entered your home?&#8221;<\/h6>\n<h6>Jesus knew the hearts of everyone present\u2026He knew their sin\u2026.<br \/>\nTo the woman he says, \u201cYour sins are forgiven.&#8221;<\/h6>\n<h6>When you are forgiven much, you love much!<\/h6>\n<h6>Adonai is the plural of Adon, meaning Lord, LORD, master or owner (the word Adon derives from a Ugaritic word meaning &#8220;lore&#8221; or &#8220;father.&#8221;)<\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><em><strong>Luke 7:36-50 New Living Translation (NLT)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jesus Anointed by a Sinful Woman<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One of the Pharisees asked Jesus to have dinner with him, so Jesus went to his home and sat down to eat.<\/em><em> When a certain immoral woman from that city heard he was eating there, she brought a beautiful alabaster jar filled with expensive perfume. 38 Then she knelt behind him at his feet, weeping. Her tears fell on his feet, and she wiped them off with her hair. Then she kept kissing his feet and putting perfume on them.<\/p>\n<p>When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, \u201cIf this man were a prophet, he would know what kind of woman is touching him. She\u2019s a sinner!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When Jesus answered his thoughts. \u201cSimon,\u201d he said to the Pharisee, \u201cI have something to say to you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGo ahead, Teacher,\u201d Simon replied.<\/p>\n<p>Then Jesus told him this story: \u201cA man loaned money to two people\u2014500 pieces of silver <\/em><em>to one and 50 pieces to the other. But neither of them could repay him, so he kindly forgave them both, canceling their debts. Who do you suppose loved him more after that?\u201d<br \/>\n<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><em>Simon answered, \u201cI suppose the one for whom he canceled the larger debt.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s right,\u201d Jesus said.\u00a0Then he turned to the woman and said to Simon, \u201cLook at this woman kneeling here. When I entered your home, you didn\u2019t offer me water to wash the dust from my feet, but she has washed them with her tears and wiped them with her hair.\u00a0You didn\u2019t greet me with a kiss, but from the time I first came in, she has not stopped kissing my feet.\u00a0You neglected the courtesy of olive oil to anoint my head, but she has anointed my feet with rare perfume.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI tell you, her sins\u2014and they are many\u2014have been forgiven, so she has shown me much love. But a person who is forgiven little shows only little love.\u201d\u00a0 Then Jesus said to the woman, \u201cYour sins are forgiven.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The men at the table said among themselves, \u201cWho is this man that he goes around forgiving sins?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And Jesus said to the woman, \u201cYour faith has saved you; go in peace.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>(Greek 500 denarii. A denarius was equivalent to a laborer\u2019s full day\u2019s wage.) <\/em>These men sitting at the table said among themselves, \u201cWHO IS THIS MAN THAT HE GOES AROUND FORGIVING SINS? Luke 7:49-50<\/h6>\n<h6><strong>They didn\u2019t know him\u2026they didn\u2019t know they were sitting in the very presence of God\u2026God they professed to be following. They had the look, the wealth, the clothes, the house, they were clean on the outside but inside they were lost, empty and blind. Jesus knew their hearts. What did he do? He told them a story.<\/strong><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><strong>Then He said to the woman, \u201cYour faith has saved you, go in peace.\u201d<\/strong><\/h6>\n<h6>\n<em>Prayer: Jesus, help us today to sit at your feet and wash them with our tears. Let us kiss you and love you with a pure heart. Help us to love you by loving others. Not for what you can do for us, but because you are worthy to receive all honor and all glory.
