As I was doing some research online I saw a poem I had written in November 2015. I read it. I was humbled by what I read.<\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>The Giving Heart<\/strong><\/em><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Surrender and Humility<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Two friends that walk together<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Surrender says, I lay it down<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Humility speaks without a sound<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Pride will drive you to hold your own<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>In haughtiness and defiance<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>God looks for the broken heart<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>As it stands in contrite obedience<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Humility bows before her foe<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>As Surrender walks down the rocky road<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Right may stand within their grasp<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>At all the wiles of circumstance<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>But in the end, these two friends<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Gain everything\u2026<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Victorious in giving&#8230;<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>They win.<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: right;\"><em>~Marla Shaw O\u2019Neill November 5, 2015\u00a9<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h6>You see, in living life, I realize, God gets ALL the glory. After all He is the Author of the Word, He is the Creator of all living things, He is the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End&#8230;He does not change&#8230;all things were made by Him all things exist because of Him&#8230;Even if we never acknowledge Him and who He is&#8230;In the end&#8230;you will discover He Is!!!<\/h6>\n<h6>Humility comes when we surrender our will, to His will. Knowing we are nothing without Him. He Is God!! Don&#8217;t let the sin of pride take you down the wrong side of the Red Sea.<\/h6>\n<h6><em>The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart\u2014 <\/em><em>These, O God, You will not despise. <strong>Psalm 51:17 (NKJV)<\/strong><\/em><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>The Taking Heart<\/strong><\/em><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Pride brings with it the self\u2026<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Pride brings lust and destruction\u2026<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Pride will kill with the tongue and with the gun\u2026<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Pride blocks out the Son.<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Pride is the mask of the hypocrite\u2026<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Pride stands tall and will not let you quit\u2026<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>it will run you into the ground\u2026<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Pride brings with it arrogance, and boastfulness,<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Pride will not let you rest\u2026<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Pride builds kingdoms for the self,<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>It doesn\u2019t care who it hurts until there\u2019s nothing left\u2026<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Pride scatters nations and steals dreams of all\u2026<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Pride will take you to the top, just to see you fall\u2026<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>In the end\u2026Pride does not let you win!<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: right;\"><em>~Marla Shaw O\u2019Neill August 3, 2017\u00a9<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6><\/h6>\n<h6><em>Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall. <strong>Proverbs 16:18 New International Version (NIV)<\/strong><\/em><\/h6>\n<h6><strong><em>Exodus 14:1-31 <\/em><em>New International Version (NIV)<\/em><\/strong><\/h6>\n<h6><em>Then the <\/em><em>Lord<\/em><em> said to Moses,<\/em><em> \u201cTell the Israelites to turn back and encamp near Pi Hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea. They are to encamp by the sea, directly opposite Baal Zephon. Pharaoh will think, \u2018The Israelites are wandering around the land in confusion, hemmed in by the desert.\u2019 And I will harden Pharaoh\u2019s heart, and he will pursue them. But I will gain glory for myself through Pharaoh and all his army, and the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord.\u201d So the Israelites did this.<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6><em>When the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled, Pharaoh and his officials changed their minds about them and said, \u201cWhat have we done? We have let the Israelites go and have lost their services!\u201d<\/em><em> So he had his chariot made ready and took his army with him. He took six hundred of the best chariots, along with all the other chariots of Egypt, with officers over all of them. The Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, so that he pursued the Israelites, who were marching out boldly. The Egyptians\u2014all Pharaoh\u2019s horses and chariots, horsemen and troops\u2014pursued the Israelites and overtook them as they camped by the sea near Pi Hahiroth, opposite Baal Zephon.<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6><em>As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians, marching after them. They were terrified and cried out to the <\/em><em>Lord<\/em><em>.<\/em><em> They said to Moses, \u201cWas it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die? What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt? Didn\u2019t we say to you in Egypt, \u2018Leave us alone; let us serve the Egyptians\u2019? It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!\u201d<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6><em>Moses answered the people, \u201cDo not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the <\/em><em>Lord<\/em><em> will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again.<\/em><em> The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.\u201d<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6><em>Then the <\/em><em>Lord<\/em><em> said to Moses, \u201cWhy are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on.<\/em><em> Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground. I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they will go in after them. And I will gain glory through Pharaoh and all his army, through his chariots and his horsemen. The Egyptians will know that I am the Lord when I gain glory through Pharaoh, his chariots and his horsemen.\u201d<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6><em>Then the angel of God, who had been traveling in front of Israel\u2019s army, withdrew and went behind them. The pillar of cloud also moved from in front and stood behind them,<\/em><em> coming between the armies of Egypt and Israel. Throughout the night the cloud brought darkness to the one side and light to the other side; so neither went near the other all night long.<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6><em>Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the <\/em><em>Lord<\/em><em> drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided,<\/em><em> and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left.<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6><em>The Egyptians pursued them, and all Pharaoh\u2019s horses and chariots and horsemen followed them into the sea.<\/em><em> During the last watch of the night the Lord looked down from the pillar of fire and cloud at the Egyptian army and threw it into confusion. He jammed the wheels of their chariots so that they had difficulty driving. And the Egyptians said, \u201cLet\u2019s get away from the Israelites! The Lord is fighting for them against Egypt.\u201d<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6><em>Then the <\/em><em>Lord<\/em><em> said to Moses, \u201cStretch out your hand over the sea so that the waters may flow back over the Egyptians and their chariots and horsemen.\u201d<\/em><em> Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and at daybreak the sea went back to its place. The Egyptians were fleeing toward it, and the Lord swept them into the sea. The water flowed back and covered the chariots and horsemen\u2014the entire army of Pharaoh that had followed the Israelites into the sea. Not one of them survived.<\/em><\/h6>\n<h6><em>But the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left.<\/em><em> That day the Lord saved Israel from the hands of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians lying dead on the shore. And when the Israelites saw the mighty hand of the Lord displayed against the Egyptians, the people feared the Lord and put their trust in him and in Moses his servant.<\/em><\/h6>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I woke this morning with thoughts concerning pride and humility.
