Americanized form of some like-sounding Ashkenazic Jewish surname. (Ancestry.com)<\/h6>\n<h6>I was born in Northern Alabama in Etowah County, in the city of Gadsden, 1954. My Dad was born in Cherokee county. I\u2019m told that my Grandpa, \u201cPaw Shaw\u201d as he was known, could throw a rock and kill a rabbit. I was also told that he was a great baseball player and they wanted him to play professional baseball but he wouldn\u2019t leave Alabama. He lived to be, I believe, 97 years old, I know he was in his nineties when he died. My grandma Shaw was in her nineties, as well, when she died. They were married for 75 years. I can hardly imagine that\u2026SEVENTY-FIVE YEARS MARRIED. Some people don\u2019t even live to be that old and yet they stayed married, that is something to ponder. Of course in those days that&#8217;s what you did, you stayed married for life.<\/h6>\n<h6>My dad is 89 years old. I just talked to him he sounded good but he\u2019s not as strong as he used to be\u2026age has a way of doing that\u2026we laughed and discussed a few things\u2026Life sure is strange\u2026but it goes on\u2026<\/h6>\n<h6>I didn\u2019t grow up knowing my dad on a day to day basis, but I love him, and every time I call him and we hang up the phone I say, \u201cI love you dad.\u201d He says, \u201cI love you too dar\u2019lyn\u2026I always have and always will, I love you dearly\u2026\u201d<\/h6>\n<h6>No matter how old we get\u2026there is nothing like talking to your mom or your dad\u2026time slips away when we aren\u2019t looking.<\/h6>\n<h6>If your parents are living\u2026call them\u2026tell them you love them\u2026even if they don\u2019t say it back\u2026some just don\u2019t know how!<\/h6>\n<h6>Love as if there is no end\u2026<\/h6>\n<h6>Forgive like there is no tomorrow\u2026<\/h6>\n<h6>And live as long and courageous as you can!<\/h6>\n<h6>It\u2019ll be gone too soon\u2026so make the moments count!<\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: right;\">~Marla Shaw O\u2019Neill June 13, 2017<\/h6>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0My maiden name is Shaw\u00a0 which comes from: The English surname was also established in Ireland in the 17th century.\u00a0Scottish and Irish: adopted as an English form of any of various Gaelic surnames derived from the personal name Sitheach \u2018wolf\u2019.
