Jesus Stood Still

imagesWRGL2MU8

Sitting by the wayside of a busy crowded street

Two men, dirty, ragged, downcast and weak…

Unable to see with physical eyes, yet sensed the Lord, was passing by.

Crying out they began to shout, “Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou son of David…”

Not seeing they could see…

“Hold your peace, you beggars, the Lord has no time for thee.”

With nothing to lose they cried all the more…

“Have mercy on us, O Lord, son of David.”

All of heaven watched the display…

Would two blind men be heard today?

Then without a warning, the walking and talking ceased.

Ears straining to hear, people begging to be healed, so much noise in the streets, what would He do, what will he say?

JESUS… STOOD… STILL…

Listening, He knew these two men recognized, without seeing they could see…

The Lord was passing by…

“What shall I do for you today?” Jesus waited for the men to reply…

Hearts stood in the balance…as the multitudes held their breath…

With confidence in who had asked, they spoke up without delay…

“That our eyes may be opened, that’s all we ask of thee.”

Jesus full of compassion granted their request immediately…

Eyes healed, hearts set free, they followed gratefully…

Having eyes to see we may not see, but blind we recognize, who it is that’s passing by… in the multitude today.

Can you see? Do you not know?

Jesus is standing still waiting for thee!

And behold, two blind men sitting by the wayside, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou son of David.
And the multitude rebuked them, because they should hold their peace: but they cried the more, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou son of David.
And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, what will ye that I shall do unto you?
They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened.
So, Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him. Matthew 20:30-34King James Version (KJV)
