Lesson Learned…

I recently wrote a letter to God and I was very specific in what I said and how I felt…I was feeling pretty down about some things and I wanted to express them to the Lord…The Holy Spirit said, “You need to delete that prayer, you are pronouncing a curse on yourself and your family…” WOE…I deleted it and asked God to forgive me. We can be sincere about things, but sincerely wrong…our words are so important…not only our words but our thoughts and the words that we write…There is life and death…in the power of the tongue, the Bible says.
We can speak life or curses… we say things sometimes without even thinking and then we wonder why we get sick or lose our influence or wonder why all hell is breaking lose in our lives. As Christians, especially, we need to be so aware of our thoughts and our words. Thank goodness for the Holy Spirit that He will correct us instantly, but we have to heed what He says.
There’s a reason there are so many scriptures about what we say with our mouth and think in our thoughts…
Lord place a guard on my mouth…Psalm 141:3
Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks…Matthew 12:34
If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord…Romans 10:9
Let your yea be yea; and nay, nay…Matthew 5:37
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart…Psalm 19:14
Let no corrupt communication precede out of my mouth…Ephesians 4:29
We take every thought captive…2 Corinthians 10:5
Think on these things…Philippians 4:8
Casting down every imagination and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God…2 Corinthians 10:5-7
I am a man of unclean lips…Isaiah 6:5
Pray without ceasing…to pray is to ask…I Thessalonians 5:16-18
For He spoke and it came to be…Psalm 33:9
And God said…Genesis 1:3
And so on and so forth…
God is trying to tell us something about our thoughts and our words…
Our thoughts become words…and our words become life or death…
Let us listen and obey. Let us be quick to hear and slow to speak…amen!!
Things we say without even thinking
I’m so tired
I can’t stand that
It scared me to death
I can’t do anything right
I’m coming down with a cold
You make me sick
You gave me a heart attack
Get out of my life
I can’t do it
I’m getting so fat
You lie like a dog
I wish I didn’t have such bad luck
It’s too late for me so why bother
I’m so stupid
It’s too hard
I might as well give up
I’m just a failure
I’m so discussed
Now don’t let these sayings get into your mind…flush ‘em as soon as you read them…and replace them with positive words from God’s holy word…amen!!
I think you get the picture…We think that those words are just words and that they don’t mean anything but they mean everything…What you confess is what you possess… So start changing the way you think and pretty soon you’ll be speaking words of life into your life and into the lives of everyone around you.
Food for thought…
Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies. Philippians 4:8-9 The Message (MSG)

I love the Lord Jesus Christ and am passionate about writing. I hope you enjoy the blog and come to visit often. Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry. “Behold the proud, His soul is not upright in him; But the just shall live by his faith. Habakkuk 2: 2-4

  1. “Life and death is in the power of the the tongue.”. Very true! We are too careless with the words we say. We are made in the image of God and there is power in the words that leave our mouths. Thank you for those inspiring words!
